Our Present Help In Trouble
“Our Present Help In Trouble”
(based on Psalm 46)
The earth shall shake and fal-ter; the moun-tains to the sea;
Its wat-ers: roar-ing, foam-ing; dis-as-ter there shall be.
But God Him-self is with us, our ref-uge and our strength;
Our pres-ent help in troub-le; His arm bey-ond all length.
The na-tions rage and bat-tle, and kings shall lose their crown;
The people fight and fo-ment; they hate from town to town.
E’en so, the Lord is with us; He is our for-tress grand;
The God of Jac-ob helps us; wars cease at His com-mand.
“Be still!” He quells all fight-ers, “and know that I am God.”
“I break the bow and shat-ter the spear with might and rod.”
“The na-tions will ex-alt me; the earth, it will re-joice!”
“That Day is yet still com-ing, when all will heed my voice.”
It is this truth that gives us the hope we need today;
It is His might that fills us, cour-age-ous on our way.
Our God: no one can con-quer; no one can Him de-stroy!
His vic-to-ry is fin-al; in Him we sing all joy!
