LIFE at Faith Lutheran Preschool

At FLP Children Become Through PLAY!

Through research we know that young children not only learn through play, but they become through PLAY!  They experience the world around them by jumping, climbing, digging, running, singing, exploring, painting, drawing, reading, getting dirty and so much more!  Their whole being is rooted in the play experience.

At Faith Lutheran Preschool we honor that  experience and offer FREEDOM for children to become through PLAY in the classroom and outside in the Play Yard.

We offer three classroom groups and one large Play yard for children to be rooted in PLAY!

Darling Ducks & Faithful Fish (2-3 Year Olds)

Zoo-Phonics Multi-Sensory Language Arts Curriculum (all ages)

The Zoo-phonics Multisensory Language Arts Program is a kinesthetic, multi-modal approach to learning all aspects of language arts, including vocabulary development and articulation, based on phonics and phonemic awareness.

The principle of Zoo-phonics maximizes understanding, memory, utilization, and transference to all areas of the reading, spelling, and writing process in a playful and concrete manner.

The overall philosophy is when the body moves the brain learns!

We move and grove with the Zoophonics animals as the children are immersed in the Zoophonics animal shapes, sounds and movements through a variety of cross-curricular activities.

We keep it light and fun!

At FLP We TEACH Social and Emotional Competence

We have learned that young children thrive in nurturing relationships.  They desire “connection” to help them regulate as they navigate their world. At Faith Lutheran Preschool we focus on nurturing relationships  to build trust so that children feel and know they belong.

Through our training we have learned that “Behavior is Communication”. We use  strategies such as belly breathing, visuals, and Tucker Turtle to validate children’s feelings and TEACH them a more appropriate way to get their needs met.

We use the  Teaching Pyramid approach that provides a systematic framework that promotes social and emotional development, provides support for children’s appropriate behavior, prevents challenging behavior, and addresses problematic behavior.

All teaching staff have completed a full year or more of training using the “The Teaching Pyramid Model”.  Each teaching team member continues with yearly professional development working towards the goal of implementing the Teaching Pyramid framework to fidelity!

At FLP We Build LIFELONG FRIENDSHIPS!

Our programs picture #2

Along with nurturing and responsive relationships and high-quality supportive environments we support young children  navigating and building friendships with each other.

We teach children what it means to be a “Super Friend” such as using friendly words, gentle hands and feet, taking turns, being flexible and going with the flow.

When relationships are nurtured friendships grow beyond our preschool walls and last for many years to come.

At FLP JESUS is our Superhero!

Weekly visits to the big church using our walking ropes as we chant our walking song to “Chapel” is a highlight of each week. Chapel time, led by Pastor Eggebraaten includes singing, bible story, and praying. The children hear and respond to God’s great love story for us while they wiggle and move and take in the images and colors in the sanctuary.

Our weekly bible story in the classroom includes a story poster, song, prayer, a project to tell the story at home and a bible story take home page too.

We use “Frolic Preschool” a collection of early childhood resources, ranging from faith formation curriculum to books, that helps children take their first steps in faith. Frolic is the first curriculum of its kind to connect developmental and spiritual milestones—for the youngest of children, starting at birth.  We are excited to engage in this faith/play based material!

Our mealtimes do include interactive singing prayers as we give thanks to God for our food and time together.

At FLP we are COMMUNITY!

Our programs picture #4 next to Soccer Shots

At Faith Lutheran Preschool we offer a variety of community building gatherings and events for families, children and church members to come together for fellowship.

Some of our favorites include In-House Pumpkin Patch Field Trip, Create & Build Night, Thanksgiving Feast, Christmas Program with Soup Supper, Annual Triathlon, Easter Egg Hunt and many more.

Our Board of Education hosts a coffee/tea cart monthly through the preschool year for parents/grandparents and each child is assigned a “Prayer Pal”, a member from the church who prays for them throughout the year.

Lastly, during the preschool year we participate with a great community program called Soccer Shots!

Soccer Shots is an engaging children’s soccer program with a focus on character development. They positively impact children’s lives on and off the field through our best-in-class coaching, communication, and curriculum. We participate in weekly 35-minute sessions over three seasons (Fall, Winter & Spring) of Soccer Shots for all ages enrolled.  We have found value in this program as it aligns with our developmental goals for early childhood. Soccer shots is an additional charge. Scholarships are available.
